I think James Verone did a great thing when he left his home in Gastonia, North Carolina, USA.
Before his turn came up, he went to a nearby bank and gave the teller a note that said:
“Someone stole my money; please give it back to me.”
James gave this note to the person and then sat down to wait for the cops.
He told a local newspaper a few days before that he was going to steal something soon in a letter.
A man tried to steal a dollar, and the local press found out about it. They chose to question him.
James used to carry Coca-Cola drinks. When he lost his job, he also lost his health insurance.
James couldn’t pay for the care he needed for a problem with his chest and back.
He decided to try to rob a bank so that he could go to jail and get health insurance from the government.
I thought what this man did was both desperate and brilliant.
